Haiti (& What It Taught Me On Gratitude)

I am sorry that it has taken me this long to write something on my experience in Haiti. There were many different reasons as to why it's taken so long. I was torn between a huge overview experience post and a day by day look into my journal. If I had gone with the day by day, I wanted to wait until I shared my journal with a few key people before handing it over to the world wide web. I also have been battling the common cold since my return and it's kind of giving me a run for my money. and Lastly, I have been so busy with work and saying goodbyes and getting ready for senior year. I finally have some down time (of course it is the night before the first day) and so I figured I could tell you a little bit about my trip. But I realized that neither of the above choices suited my fancy tonight. So instead, I will delight you with pictures and stories of my trip to Haiti and how it taught me gratitude.

I am so grateful for the team God put together for Haiti.

for friends who spend early morning hours in airports with me

for the reminder of where my heart longs to be.

for these boys teaching me you are never to old to be silly.

for learning you are capable of way more than you think

for Alex reminding me that I am enough

for this boy showing me real joy

for translators who bind our lives to christ

for lazy afternoons in the hammock with this guy.

for pictures that show life

for God teaching me to rest in him. safe and secure in his arms.

for sassy faces and friendship.

for these sweet little faces and their tag-a-long giggles.

Grateful for her heart and how she makes me laugh.

for guidance by the holy spirit

for parachute skirts and shorts underneath

for this guy teaching me patience

for God giving me three great mentors and friends this summer

I am grateful for God's love for me

My what a trip it was. Full of heart flips, laughter, boundary breaking, and good lovin. I was blessed with an incredible team and it was such a joy to bring Jesus to Haiti with them. As much as we gave, we gained so much more. So here's to good lessons, to gratitude, and to Haiti. Until we meet again next summer.
