So Go.

Tonight, I am not writing for my own pleasure, though it does bring me much joy. I am writing for something, or perhaps someone, much greater. To join the chorus singing redemption's song & to invite others into freedom.

There is nothing quite like the feeling of exhaling your fear and breathing in this extravagant love. It's almost like I have never breathed before. Once you begin breathing - you cannot stop. You may not realize it all the time, but you are breathing steady and constant. You may even try and hold your breath, but your body revolts until it has won.

You cannot leave the extravagant love of Christ. You may run & hide, but like holding your breath, all such things are futile because God will move mountains to bring you close to Him. As you stand in the desert, tired from running, you may look up to the sky above you and see that it has been split open and your creator is there. You fall to your knees in awe of who He turned out to be despite your preconceived notions. He is more than pictured, imagined, or described by scholars. He cannot and will not fit into a box anymore. No, he has the universe at the tip of his finger and yet chooses you, once a lowly sinner, to become his holy, righteous, and high priest. To think even for just a moment on His majesty would set a heart ablaze with wonder and gratitude.

and it is that: gratitude. The key to discontentment. A sure way to extinguish jealousy, envy, & greed. To look around and take notice of the fortunes of another will in fact blind you to such gifts even you might possess. But to recognize that which you have been given invites your heart to thank The Giver himself. The same giver of stars and open heavens. The same one who took the liberty of breaking himself and the sky apart just to get a glimpse of you.

Do you not see it? Do you see now how He loves you? Do you see the great lengths at which He would go to for you to be able to breathe again?

I seem to falter in my understanding of the Lord from time to time. In one instance I feel steady in who He is and what He does. Just as I think I know, He unveils that new thing which brings nothing but joy. Still other times, I think I might not ever understand. In that moment, a heart can begin to search for the satisfaction it can master. To no avail, the heart may feel forsaken but is indeed nescient to the ever-present, ever-fulfilling heart of God.

He does not un-choose His children, and we cannot walk out on this family. This unprecedented affection reconstructs our thoughts about ourselves and on a bigger scheme, our thoughts on Christ.

It is for redemption that He came and if that was His great calling, would not ours be to receive such grace? To sit in His company until the chains from our slavery are all but gone?

This gratitude for his companionship and the freedom it offers is what keeps me writing. Even on the days I feel as though I have nothing to say, He is saying come.

He is always calling us closer to His heart. So Go.
