"I have come to see the baby. The One who has been promised to us. The One who has come to save us all. because, Mary, I can't save myself. and you know how broken I am. You feel it too. We are both knit together with these brave women hearts of our ancestors. yet we are still broken. you and I... I came to glimpse of Emmanuel."
Thousands of years later it is the same. I have come to glimpse of Emmanuel. The hope of the world. The hope of my world. because, you see, this world [and i] are hurting and oh it's dark and it's deceiving; but tonight brings the gift of all gifts. Tonight brings light. and hope. and JOY. You know, that deep JOY that gets inside your bones and you feel as if you can fly? yeah, that JOY. Tonight I am reminded of the people he chose to bare the savior of the world: Mary & Joseph. nobodies to this world. everythings to God. She gave birth to a son. A son who would come to bless and to be the blessing. to give and to be the gift. to sacrifice and to be the sacrifice for us.
I think about Him when I'm holding my sweet babies tight as they sleep. It's as if I am holding Emmanuel at his beginning day. So tender and gentle. They sleep in heavenly peace. and I can't stop beholding them, for that is all of our beginnings. Even Christ. Most high. Most adored. Most praised. came as a baby. and I cannot stop beholding Him. I don't ever want to stop beholding Him. because He is worth it. oh so worth it. He is the light in the darkness we feel heavy all around us. He has come to break through. and break through he has.
That feeling of awe that I experience often with my littles, how much more I feel about my Jesus. and for me that's enough. I don't need presents. I don't need comfort. I just need Jesus. and for the first time in a long time I know deeply that He is enough for me. Tonight, I get to hold him. or rather he is holding me. and I behold him in his tender beauty. fully/completely/overwhelmingly in awe of the God-man he is.
I have come to adore Him. Emmanuel: God With Us.
Christ has come. The great I AM has come. let us behold his glory.
