The sun rises early here on this side of the world and so does the Rooster. The dirt is red and the trees, man, they are summer green. I woke up from a deep sleep after my first night in East Africa. As I stumbled downstairs to breakfast, I was thinking, "here I am. I'm finally in East Africa. something that was only a dream to me just a few short months ago." The picture above was taken this morning (right when I woke up), but I wouldn't change this tender moment for anything. From left to right you have Sweet Carson who has a humor just like mine, sassy baby Ann with the incredibly A. Matheny holding her, Simple and smart Brittany, myself, and lovable Stephen who is brave for spending 24/7 with all of us crazy girls. of course we also have tucker (aka taco) the golden retriever and Jones the german shepherd. Not pictured: (Mary London, Cody, Kadie, Irene, and Lucy) but this is it. my little East African family.
Even in the 2 days that we have been here, we have grown so close. God has shown me so much and continues to do so by the second. Details of that will come soon. I just want you to know that I'm happy here. So happy. and there is Joy and good things going on over here. Tomorrow we head out for our first community. I am both excited and nervous; mostly for the unknown and untrekked trails that I am to walk both with the people here and God. but today in team devotion we read words that got my heart:
"Therefore we shall not lose hope though outwardly we are wasting away, we are being renewed inwardly day by day. All for the sake of overflowing thanks and glory to the Father."
2 corinthians 4
I hope that this update finds you well in spirit and heart.
all my love,
Em
This made me smile. Have fun on your adventure! I love you! :)
