I'd like to take you into my journal for this week
if you don't mind. I feel as though it is the best way to see into the moment as it was in full.
1/21/15 Community 1 - day 4
There are lands in shadows and in light. No that's not a metaphor, I'm looking out over the infinite-looking valley before me and I can see the clouds covering only part of the land. As I look longer, the illustration of what this all means rises to the top, just hitting the edge of the railing at this overlook.
We must walk from one into the other.
If you stay in the light for too long, everything becomes dry and dusty. The shadows are needed to grow. It is the same with good things in our life. We grow in Christ's promises during the rainy days. We require the water to walk on. In the same way, we cannot always be in the shadowland. The Lord did not intend for us to live there. In fact, He calls us the children of the light. So if we are in the shadows, God is showing us the way to the light. Even still, the shadows are no more dark to Him than the light. Whether the ground be soaked or cracked, the Lord is sovereign over all. He sees us in both lands and knows that no matter what this path leads to the promised land; where drought and flood cease, food is plentiful, and joy is everlasting.
As for me, I will continue to walk through both lands, shadow and light, alike. I will walk on all the way praising my Lord for what was, what is, and what is to come. For the promised land is near with every step I take.
Brothers and sisters would you join me? Children of the light get up and walk. For our path may be rocky, but we are unchanged by our sandals of peace.
Here's to shadowlands and sun light breaking through, journals speaking louder than I can, and wisdom that only the Lord gives in moments of reverence.
